5 Beauty Lessons We Learnt From Song Ji-A of 'Single's Inferno'

Looking for a new dating show to fill the void of Love Island? Look no further. Single's Inferno – the hit reality dating show from South Korea — has joined Netflix's list of global top 10 titles ever since its premiere! The basic premise of the show is: Hot singles stay on a deserted island in Korea, hoping to meet their special someone. There's no cash prize involved, just the chance to fall for someone.

One breakout star from the series is Song Ji-A, beauty YouTuber otherwise known as Freezia. Her charms and prowess in enchanting her suitors serves as a large plot point within the series—as do her stunning makeup and fashion looks!

But even before her rise to fame on the Netflix series, Ji-A was already racking up millions of views on Youtube as a beauty content creator. Ji-A regularly posts Get Ready with Me (GRWM), fashion styling videos, makeup tutorials and casual vlogs on her channel. Here, we've rounded up some beauty lessons we picked up from her videos to achieve her flawless, cute and sexy look:

1. Start your day with a morning routine

Woke up with puffy eyes or face? Ji-A starts her day with an ice americano or iced green tea to help reduce morning swelling. She also puts her ampoules and sheet masks in the fridge, as cold skin care can really help calm and de-puff your face!

2. Layer your skin care with patience!

In her night routine videos, Ji-A shows that after applying the lighter products in her routine such as toner, serums and essence, she waits for her skin to fully absorb the products before going in with her heavy nighttime moisturiser. This will allow each product to soak into your skin and penetrate the pores more thoroughly, and also to avoid product piling!

Honourable mention! Ji-A frequently shares in her videos that she has sensitive skin, and she's a huge fan of the Rovectin Skin Essentials Activating Treatment Lotion. This hydrating water-based lotion is not only gentle on the skin, it also helps encourage firmness, promotes even texture, and soothes acne and dryness all at the same time.

3. Go for a moisturising cushion compact to conceal pore problems

Of course, skin care is still the best when it comes to eradicating blackheads and other pore problems, but if you're looking for a quick fix, Ji-A recommends opting for hydrating cushion compacts to conceal troubled areas. In her 'My Makeup From My Busan Vlog' video, she shares that the trick is to go for cushion foundations with hydrating formulas (instead of matte formulas) as they won't "flake" off throughout the day.

4. Use your Gua Sha for your shoulder to help ease tension

Not just your face, gua sha is a multi-functional device that can also be used on other parts of your body. Here, Ji-A shares how she uses her gua sha tool on her face and neck:

5. Prep your skin with a toner pad before applying makeup

Before starting her makeup, you'd likely notice that Ji-A uses a toner pad to prep her skin first. These convenient pre-soaked pads are normally packed with hydrating, exfoliating and pore-clearing benefits to help you achieve a smooth, clean and hydrated base for flawless makeup.

If you're on the hunt for a good toner pad, we'd recommend checking out I'm From's Pear Soothing Pad (great for sensitive skin types!), COSRX One Step Original Clear Pads (for acne-prone skin) or COSRX One Step Moisture Up Pads (for dry skin types!).
