REVIEW: Purito's Best-Selling Centella Green Level Toner & Buffet Serum

Purito is a K-Beauty brand that has been receiving a lot of buzz recently. They focus more on clean formulations and recyclable products, rather than fancy marketing and wasteful packaging.

They are cruelty-free and vegan, as well as being 100% EWG (Environmental Working Group) Green Level Certified. They also take the time to formulate their products without many harmful ingredients, such as PEGs, ethanol, parabens, mineral oil, artificial dyes, synthetic perfumes, silicones, sulfates and more. They pride themselves on being a safe and honest K-Beauty brand, which is why we love them so much!

Purito makes some really incredible products that are beloved by many around the world, but today is all about their famous centella line.

I’m sure many of you are already well-informed about the wonders of centella, so to summarise, centella (also known as centella asiatica, tiger grass, or cica) is a herb commonly used in Asian medicine that promotes a healthy skin barrier by calming inflammation, providing a good boost of hydration, increasing collagen production, and protecting against environmental stressors and free radical damage. What's so great about centella is that all skin types can get along with it, but it is especially beneficial for sensitive, acne-prone and mature skins. Centella has been used in K-Beauty for years, and with countless studies that confirm its status as a game-changing skin care ingredient, it is clear that centella products are the best in the biz!

The two most popular products in Purito’s centella collection are the toner and the serum, so if you want to learn more about those, then just keep reading!

1. PURITO Centella Green Level Calming Toner

This toner has received a tonne of hype for a reason. It packs a serious punch, and is perfect for my dry, sensitive and acne-prone skin. It is formulated with 10% centella asiatica extract, as well as panthenol, witch hazel extract, allantoin, glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, so it not only soothes the skin, but also hydrates, brightens and purifies!

This isn’t your common watery toner, this has more of a jelly-like essence consistency which makes the skin feel bouncy and plump. Because of its slightly more viscous texture, I can use this as a traditional toner or as an essence. I especially like to use this for the ‘seven skin’ method when my skin is feeling particularly parched, so it's a staple in my routine in the cooler months.

I love using this toner when I am incorporating active ingredients into my routine, like AHAs, salicylic acid and retinol. I feel it takes away any possibility of irritation as it creates a calming barrier between my skin and the active ingredient.

If you are in the market for an amazing K-Beauty toner that is multi-purpose and super effective, this is an excellent one to consider. It's so nice knowing that great quality and effective skin care products don’t need to cost a lot of money, or cost the Earth!

2. PURITO Centella Green Level Buffet Serum

For me, this serum is my top pick from Purito! You can think of this serum as the supercharged version of the Centella Green Level Calming Toner. This serum is simple, but incredibly powerful: it has a whopping 49% centella asiatica extract, as well as other centella compounds asiaticoside, asiatic acid and madecassic acid. Also appearing on the ingredients list is sodium hyaluronate, glycerin, and panthenol, and unlike the toner, the serum also contains niacinamide and ceramide NP to further support a happy skin barrier. Impressed yet?

This serum is clear and has a watery-gel consistency which sinks right into the skin on application. It feels incredibly hydrating, like your skin has just had all its eight glasses of water, yet doesn’t leave any residue. Though this formula feels sufficiently hydrating for my dry skin, I can also imagine this serum being perfect for more oily skin skin types as well.

This serum has saved my skin countless times when I’ve accidentally over-exfoliated or gone overboard with retinol. Because it is so lightweight, I am able to use it day and night. I have also loved mixing it into exfoliating serums or masks to make the formula not only more gentle, but also add an extra boost of hydration.

This is a product that I can always rely on and I never want to be without. I highly recommend this for people with chronic sensitivity as it soothes like nothing else I’ve tried before. And again, it would be a perfect serum for those with acne-prone and oily skin because of the comfortable formula and great ingredients list. This is also a fantastic serum option for those of you on a tight budget, because it's only $30, plus you are getting double the amount of a traditional serum.
