The Korean 7-Skin Method & Toner Recommendations
Today, let’s take a closer look at one of the most well-known K-beauty techniques that have been raved by beauty gurus all over the world: The 7-Skin Method!
What is the 7-Skin Method?
To put it simply, this is a multi-application toner technique, which means that you will apply 7 layers of hydrating toner or essence on to your face after cleansing and before your moisturising steps. The aim of this method is to help multiply the hydrating effects of your skin care products, and provide your skin with enough hydration without feeling heavy.
What’s great about this technique is that unlike other skin treatments, it is very skin-friendly and can be done on a daily basis, with the result of more radiant, glowy and plump skin!

What should I look out for when doing the 7-Skin technique?
One thing you should keep in mind: you do not have to pack on exactly 7 layers. This is a very flexible technique – you can add more or reduce the number of layers according to the current state of your skin. 7 layers, normally, is the sufficient amount for even very dry skin.
This K-beauty secret is suitable for all skin types, even oily or sensitive skin. But the desired effect only comes with using the right products! Since the “7-Skin Method” requires layering a particular toner or essence, you should always choose fragrance-free and alcohol-free products to avoid any breakouts or irritation. You should also steer clear of toners with cleansing or exfoliating properties, as they can irritate and strip away your skin’s moisture.
What are the best products for the 7-Skin Method?
There are many toners you can use for the “7-Skin Method”, and here we will list out some of our favourite recommendations:
This gel-type toner is popular in Korea due to its intensely hydrating and nourishing formula, packed with skin-loving ingredients such as milk vetch root extract, which is rich in vitamins and minerals. The ability to deliver nutrient-filled moisture to skin while still being quickly absorbable makes Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner the perfect product for the “7-Skin Method”.
For ease of application, this toner is also available in mist version!
2. Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner
True to its name, the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner is a great product to prep your skin for the next steps in your skin care regimen. What stands out about this product is its amino acid-rich formula that can reduce irritation, provide deep hydration and remove excess dirt and sebum on the skin. And similar to many other Dear Klairs products, it is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive!

3. Whamisa Organic Flower Deep Rich Essence Toner
Having a thicker texture, almost serum-like as compared to the previous toners we've mentioned, this product will definitely require more time to absorb into your skin. However, the result is to die for! Your skin will be deeply nourished and strengthened with hydrating, soothing and nutrient-boosting ingredients from Aloe Maculata Leaf, fermented Dandelion and Argan Oil.
We highly recommend giving this toner technique a go, and let us know your experience in the comments below!

With this method – am I to use the same toner for all ‘7’ applications? I currently have the Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying toner to help control my oily/combination skin, should I be replacing that toner with one of the above or should I be using one of the above in addition to my one application of my existing toner? The article also says I could use a toner or essence, I am also using the Cosrx Snail Mucin essence after my toner. Would I still continue with the essence step?
I have heard many people refer to the 7-skin method so am interested in giving it a good go.
Thanks
