The Korean Lip Mask Battle: Laneige vs Klavuu, Which One is Better?

The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has gained its cult status as one of K-Beauty's most iconic product. How does the relatively new Klavuu Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Mask fare in comparison?

Dry, chapped lips have met their match: Lip sleeping masks! For years, the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask has been the reigning champion, but it has now met a new contender, the Klavuu Nourishing Care Lip Sleeping Mask!

Ingredients

Despite promising similar benefits for the lips, the two products highlight very different key ingredients. You can find a full list of ingredients here for the Laneige mask and here for the Klavuu mask.

The Laneige mask has blueberry, cranberry, strawberry, and raspberry extracts, which form their trademarked Mixed Berry Complex. These ingredients are rich in vitamin C and provide antioxidants benefits to protect and gently exfoliate dry flakes. It also uses hyaluronic acid and minerals to deeply hydrate and form a protective barrier over the lips while you sleep.

Klavuu’s key ingredients are much shorter, and champions natural oils, namely avocado, sweet almond and apricot. Unlike Laneige, Klavuu's mask is alcohol-free, which makes it more suitable for anyone who's sensitive to alcohols in skin care.

Texture & Scent

This is where the two lip masks differ most. The Laneige mask has a very rich, gel-type texture and a strong strawberry scent. Apart from Berry, they are also available in various other flavours, such as Apple Lime, Vanilla, Grapefruit and Mint Choco.

Klavuu's texture is more similar to a balm (think Paw Paw’s ointment!) and has a more subtle vanilla scent. So while Laneige has a thicker texture, Klavuu is more lightweight on the lips.

Which one is better? We think it really depends on your preference! We've broken down the differences in this handy infographic below:
