This Popular K-Beauty Serum Is Also Nicknamed The "Damn Serum" – What's Up With That?
This serum took the infamous phrase "beauty is pain" quite literally.
Korean skin care is widely known for their gentle yet effective formulas, which is why we were surprised to learn about a popular K-Beauty product that is notoriously called the “Damn Serum", a nickname earned due to its painful yet powerfully effective results on the skin.
Despite the promise of pain, the Nacific Fresh Herb Origin Serum still flew off the shelves in Korea, especially after it's said to be a holy grail product of Korean star Jun Ji Hyun.
Honestly, who wouldn't want skin that looks like THAT?!
Other than just hydrating the skin like most serums, the Nacific Fresh Herb Origin Serum promises to also minimise pores, fight wrinkles, brighten dullness and treat skin troubles for healthier and more radiant skin. But does the "painful serum" really live up to its name and hype? Let's find out!
Texture, Smell & Packaging
The previous version of this serum was housed in a glass container, but it has now switched to plastic packaging to make it more travel-friendly. It also comes with a handy dropper for easier and more precise application.
Made with a bi-phase oil-essence formula, you will have to shake the serum to mix the two layers before applying. Despite containing various oils, it feels more watery in texture, and does not feel heavy on the skin. You will also notice a very refreshing citrus scent the moment you open the serum!
The Result
Instead of hurting or irritating the skin, the “pain” you will feel is actually more of a prickling sensation that occurs when the solution is applied on damaged and oxidised skin. Apparently, this happens because the skin is reacting to the many active ingredients in the serum. (Check out the full ingredients list here!)
According to Nacific, the more damaged and oxidised your skin is, the more of a prickly/tingly effect you’ll feel when applying the serum! This also means that the more you use it, the healthier your skin gets as it repairs itself, so the prickliness will eventually fade away.
After just a week or so of use, you should already be able to see its brightening, clearing and tightening effects on the skin. After each use, the serum will also leave a subtle dewy glow right after. Apply this during your morning and evening routine, and once the prickling sensation is gone, all you’re left with is healthier, brighter and glowing skin!
Damn, did we say how amazing this damn serum was again? ;)

Sounds good, but have many questions:
Should this product be avoided when using any or certain actives?
Would it replace a Vitamin C serum?
Would it replace niacinamide (currently being used for pore size and redness)?
Is it better to use a hydrating toner before using this?
Really want to try this one! Sounds promising
