7 Ways to Transition Your Skin Care Routine for Summer
We all love a bit of glow, but we don’t necessarily want to be a puddle of grease and sweat during summer time! Fortunately, there are plenty of great K-Beauty products that we can add into our routine and get through summer with our best skin yet!
1. Cleanse thoroughly
In the warmer months, a lot of us have increased sweat and sebum production, which can result in the skin feeling greasy and sticky. A lot of us also reapply sunscreen more often in summer, which means even more layers and even more greasiness. To help cut through the sweat, oil and layers of sunscreen at night, you may find your skin can benefit from a deeper cleanse. If you usually use a cream or milk cleanser, try using a cleanser that has more of a lather. I love the Neogen Green Tea Real Fresh Cleansing Stick as they are super gentle on the skin, but still give me a thorough cleanse. I love using it as my morning cleanse, particular after a warm night, and also as my second cleanse at night time. It also has the benefit of being travel-friendly!
2. Switch to a lightweight moisturiser
Moisturisers seem to be the first product we switch up when the weather changes. As there are often so many different textures a moisturiser can have, it is easy to adapt your skin care routine to fit your current skin needs by changing what moisturiser you use. While I am a dry skin girl and love a nice, rich cream, I definitely crave something lighter in the spring and summer months. The Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream has been the answer to my need for a lightweight yet super hydrating moisturiser. It has such a unique texture, quite similar to custard. It gives my skin enough hydration without feeling heavy or making my skin feel too greasy throughout the day. I’ve been using it for a few months already and loving it!

3. Use a cooling eye treatment
Along the same lines as switching to a lightweight moisturiser, it may also be time to swap your eye cream to adapt to the changing weather. As opposed to using something rich and nourishing like we usually would in the cooler months, it can be a good idea to opt for something a little bit less heavy while it's warmer. The Klairs Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel is perfect for that. It will keep your eye area hydrated and plump as a rich eye cream would, but it sinks into the skin immediately, leaving no sticky residue. The gel texture itself is also cooling, and the ingredients list shows a host of skin-loving ingredients, such as caffeine for de-puffing, as well as amino acids and copper tripeptide for anti-ageing.
4. Sheet Masks!
Nothing beats popping on a nice, cooling sheet mask after a hot day. The Benton Aloe Soothing Mask Pack is a classic for summer and has been one of my favourites for years. It contains 48% aloe leaf water to soothe and cool the skin, which is a natural remedy that has been used for centuries. There is also camellia leaf water to provide instant relief for sensitised and overheated skin. Benton masks also win extra points for being super affordable while being such high quality!

5. Use a face mist
One of the best ways to refresh the skin during a hot day is by using a facial spray! Not only is it great for cooling down, it also gives your skin an extra boost of hydration and a gorgeous glow. The Sioris Time is Running Out Mist has quickly become my favourite. It is absolutely packed with beautiful ingredients. The first on the list is 78% organic green plum water to hydrate the skin, and it also has a lovely blend of oils for added nourishment. There is also allantoin and licorice root extract to brighten the complexion, and like all of Sioris’ products, this is free from harmful chemicals, parabens and artificial fragrance.
6. Indulge in some skin care tools
There is no better time than summer to bust out your beauty tools. Jade and rose quartz are naturally cooling, so tools like the Beauty Roller & Gua Sha Set are perfect for winding down on a hot summer night. One of my favourite tips is to use a beauty roller while sheet masking. It seriously makes it feel like a spa experience! If you are feeling extra fancy, try the Crystal Eye Mask. It is hand-crafted and made specifically for cooling and de-puffing the eye area, so it can be your secret weapon after a big night out!
7. Invest in a beauty fridge
The ultimate summer essential is, of course, a Nudie Glow Mini Beauty Fridge! Yes, they are bougie, but they elevate the skin care experience so much. You can pop all your favourite summer essentials in there, like your gel moisturisers, sheet masks, facial sprays and skin care tools for an even more summer-friendly self-care routine. Nudie Glow has a heap of cute colours to choose from, so you will definitely find one that suits your vanity!
