What to Do When You Get Your First Wrinkle
Got your first wrinkle? Don’t freak out, Korean skin care is here!
Getting old is a blessing, but spotting the first crow’s feet or line on your forehead can be a bit of a shocker! While most people will start seeing wrinkles forming by their early 30s, it is also common for people who abused the sun in their teens and 20s to develop wrinkles even earlier. This is commonly referred to as “premature ageing”, and can be caused by excessive sun exposure, the over-use of facial muscles, or from generally being unkind to your skin!

While it’s true that you can’t stop wrinkles forever (unless it’s with surgery or professional treatments like Botox), that doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea to look after your skin and try and stave off premature ageing for as looong as possible. Here’s some stuff to get into your skin care routine asap if you wanna keep your skin healthy, dewy and wrinkle-free:
1. If you haven’t already, apply sunscreen: As we like to say over and over again here at Nudie Glow, prevention is the best way to fight signs of ageing, and the best form of prevention is to apply sunscreen religiously, and avoid excessive sun exposure! Not only do sunscreens prevent skin cancer, sun spots or sagging skin, they will also help slow down the process of a fine line turning into a deep-set wrinkle.
2. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise: Keeping your skin hydrated and properly moisturised will also help in preventing fine lines and wrinkles. Look out for moisturisers with hyaluronic acid, ceramides and botanical oils, like the COSRX Hyaluronic Acid Cream, Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream or the Huxley Cream Anti-Gravity!
3. Incorporate anti-ageing skincare: Some of our favourites are products with retinol, AHAs, vitamin C and niacinamide. Products with retinol like Missha’s Time Revolution Borabit Ampoule helps to stimulate a quicker renewal of skin cells, while AHAs like lactic acid helps with collagen synthesis, improving skin texture and the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.
Vitamin C and niacinamide are both potent antioxidants that has tons of benefits for the skin, from fighting dullness to improving the look of enlarged pores. Try our best-selling Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Lemon and Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum for that boost of much-needed brightening and antioxidants.
If you get your first wrinkle, remember that it’s not the end of the world. Just keep applying your sunscreen regularly, incorporate anti-ageing ingredients into your regimen, and remember — you’re gorgeous no matter what!
