How to Change Your Skin Care Routine from Summer to Fall
Wondering how to change up your skin care routine for fall? Check out these tips on how to transition from summer to fall skin care!
Much like how your closet changes with the season, you should also change your skin care routine to maintain that flawless, healthy glow all year long. Regardless of your skin type, it’s important to prepare your skin for the change in weather and adjust your routine accordingly. And as we get into the colder months, it’s all about moisture, moisture, moisture!
1. Change Your Oil Cleanser, Toner And Moisturiser
Say goodbye to the lightweight, oil-free products you've been slathering on all summer. It's time to bulk up with heftier hydrators, and opt for more nourishing options that will deliver deep moisture. Main changes are switching up your oil cleanser, toner, and moisturiser.
The Klavuu Pure Pearlsation Divine Pearl Cleansing oil is a great fall staple due to its rich formula and added brightening effects. Another one of my personal favourite is the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner for its deep nourishing and pH balancing properties. Fall is also the time to bring out the richer moisturisers like the Polatam Deep Moist Cream that hydrates without leaving your skin feeling greasy.
2. Up Your Exfoliation Game
Dry, flaky skin is one of the most common skin concerns during fall and winter, especially flakiness around the nose area if you're always blowing it with a tissue. The best way to get rid of dry, flaky skin is by exfoliating regularly to slough away dead skin cells. I personally amp up my exfoliation game to 3 times a week during fall but, that being said, how often you exfoliate should depend on your own skin type.
For a gentle physical exfoliator, try the Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Facial Polish. In need of a double dose of exfoliation (both chemical and physical exfoliation)? Try the Neogen Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling Green Tea.
3. Face Mists Are Your New BFFs
When exposed to colder, drier temperatures, your skin is in a way more fragile state. It’s also easy for your skin to lose its natural moisture balance if the heater is always on full blast. This is why a nourishing face mist like the Pyunkang Yul Mist Toner can be one of your greatest weapons to combat dryness during the colder seasons. Spray yourself with the mist throughout the day, or right after you come out of a hot shower to avoid that tight, squeaky feeling.
4. Use Eye Creams
In the colder seasons, you will realize that your fine lines and dark circles are even more prominent. That’s why every morning and night you should be using an eye cream to fortify the area with some extra moisture and nutrients that will hydrate, coat and protect this sensitive area.
The Whamisa Organic Flowers Eye Essence is a lightweight yet deeply hydrating essence enriched with organic ingredients to brighten, firm and reduce fine lines around the eye area.
5. SPF!!!
Don’t let the colder temperature fool you—UVA rays can penetrate the skin even on cloudy days! So it’s just as important to apply sunscreen in the fall or winter, as it is during the summer.
6. Prep your Skin with a Primer
Mattifying primers may have been one of your go-to products during summer, but during the cooler months, opt for a hydrating primer instead. The J.One Jelly Pack is a cult favourite primer, with its jelly-like texture that melts into the skin to provide a smooth, hydrated canvas for long-lasting makeup.
